about

Stay in Bed is a timely alternative rock anthem that rises up to ask "who is accountable" for overseeing the abuse of capitalist corporate greed and government disregard of its people? Lyrics such as "no veins to bleed" highlight the lack of humanity in contemporary corporate practices that have become numbingly too common. Van Daam has nurtured the single over the last few years to achingly reveal a raw confrontation with reality, and the lack of accountability and inequality that exists within our seemingly righteous nation.

lyrics

Stay in Bed
Words and Music by Julia Van Daam

Some things are better off unsaid Sometimes I’d rather stay in bed

Some things are better in the abstract
Your brain will be kept from cracking
From the ridiculous contact the search for reason is lacking

Some things are better off unsaid Sometimes I’d rather stay in bed
Who is accountable in this world?
Who is accountable boys and girls?

Truth vanishes as we placate those who have no veins to bleed
Empty gestures gestate ignoring people who are in need
It’s the world we need to oxygenate All people in their suits of tweed
From this we need to recuperate Fiscal wealth and corporate greed

Who is accountable in this world?
Who is accountable boys and girls?

Is it the politicians with their pretty suits and ties?
Is it your neighbor hypocrisy in disguise?
Is it you or me or is it the people on TV?
Who is accountable to me?

Freedom is like a mosaic, Flamboyant but pale
Sometimes it’s rather archaic, Wisdom bureaucrats curtail
Listen to all of the clamor, It’s like a regular narrative
Why put those liars in the slammer, It’s all perceptions comparative

Some things are better off unsaid Sometimes I’d rather stay in bed
Some things are better off unsaid Sometimes I’d rather stay in bed
Who is accountable in this world? Who is accountable boys and girls?
Some things are better off unsaid Sometimes I’d rather stay in bed

who is accountable…
